Established in 1990 as a privately owned company, Peninsula Polymers was formed to sell off excess resin capacity for Guardsman Products. Soon after additional product lines were added to Peninsula Polymers’ offerings and moved them from a regional to a national distributor.
Peninsula Polymers immediately adopted unique philosophies to distribution versus their competitors. One philosophy included a business model to represent a limited number of suppliers in order to gain an expertise in the technologies and their markets. This fundamental principle is still utilized today.
In 2005, CCP (Cook Composites and Polymers) finalized the purchase of Peninsula Polymers, LLC. This acquisition made Peninsula Polymers, LLC part of the Total Chemicals branch, while establishing us as a separate business entity within the group.
On July 1, 2011 Arkema’s purchase of Total’s photocure and coatings resins businesses was finalized. This acquisition included Sartomer, Cray Valley, CCP and Peninsula Polymers, LLC. The combination of these assets with Arkema’s emulsion systems and additives business creates a global leader in the coatings market. Arkema was formed in May 2006 when certain chemical assets of Total SA were spun off into a separate company.
Today, Peninsula Polymers maintains a healthy balance of domestic and international suppliers. The purpose is to have the ability to supply our customers with high quality products and unsurpassed technologies. The majority of our product lines remain true to this concept of focusing primarily on resins. However, we have added some specialty items and additives to further complement our existing resin products.
